The ancient temple of the Hermitage remained very deteriorated after the earthquake of 1940 reason why in the year 1941, being Mayor Don Manuel Montero Bernales (1940-1947) to the dilapidated state of the parish, considered the need to build a new temple, handling the Pastor Alberto Garcia.

Church SantÃsima Cruz de Barranco
The manager of the work was the architect Humberto Guerra, the first stone was laid on February 14, 1944, during the administration of Mayor Don Manuel Montero Bernales.
On June 1, 1963, in a solemn ceremony it opened the temple to be blessed by Cardinal Juan Landazuri Ricketts, and is today the parish district of Barranco.
The temple has a nave and two aisles, with exit door to the Municipal Park and Av. San Martin plant in Latin cross, and vaulted ceiling, the façade stands out for its neoclassical style
El Puente de los Suspiros
Its known in the world thanks to the composer Chabuca Granda, this legendary wooden bridge has been the scene for love of all ages.
El puente de los suspiros was built in 1876, by the need to attach the ends of the creek and allow passage between Ayacucho and Ermita streets. Although now there is water under the bridge run, it remains the favorite place for couples visiting the area and inspiration of composers and writers who found the muses in gnashing of the timber. This was a favorite haunt of famous residents like Jose Maria Eguren and Martin Adan, the bridge inspired a famous song composer Chabuca Granda, titled "The Bridge of Sighs" in 1960.
During the Pacific War, it was destroyed like all Barranco to the passage of Chilean army on 14 January 1881. It was later rebuilt.
The name of the Bridge of Sighs comes from the countless romances that had and have as barranquino frame this picturesque corner. Tradition says that who first see the bridge and crosses without breathing will fulfill the desire to ask.
Crossing the bridge is the traditional Ermita of Barranco and below the Bajada de Baños, road leading to the sea where fishermen once down to the beach. Now it surrounded by quaint cottages that house Barranco former neighbors and businesses such as bars and restaurants.
